10-Million-Pound Meat Recall Affects Major Retailers: What You Need to Know

A massive meat recall involving nearly 10 million pounds of pre-cooked meat products has been issued due to listeria concerns. These products are sold at many well-known retailers across the U.S., including Walmart, Target, Aldi, Amazon, and more.

What Sparked the Recall?

BrucePac, a pre-cooked meat producer, discovered the presence of Listeria monocytogenes on their ready-to-eat poultry during routine USDA testing.

This bacteria can lead to a serious infection called listeriosis if consumed, particularly dangerous for older adults, those with weakened immune systems, and pregnant individuals.

Which Products Are Affected?

The recall impacts various pre-packaged foods such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, and frozen meals containing chicken. The USDA has provided a 326-page document detailing specific retailers, brands, and food items. Here’s a list of some of the major stores and brands involved:

What Should You Do?

If you’ve purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Consumers are urged to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Retailers should also remove the products from their shelves.

While no illnesses have been confirmed, anyone experiencing symptoms or concerned about possible exposure should consult a healthcare provider. Flu-like symptoms can appear within two months of consuming contaminated food, especially for those in higher-risk groups.

Symptoms of Listeriosis

Common symptoms of listeriosis include:

  • Fever
  • Muscle aches
  • Headache
  • Stiff neck
  • Confusion
  • Loss of balance
  • Convulsions
  • Diarrhea
  • Other gastrointestinal issues

In pregnant individuals, the infection can lead to serious complications like miscarriage, stillbirth, or infection in newborns. If you experience these symptoms after consuming affected products, seek medical care immediately.

4 thoughts on “How Much Protein Is In a Pound of Ground Beef?

  1. The part about ground beef helping with hormone production and immune system support really caught my attention. I didn’t realize it could have those benefits.

  2. I always wondered about the protein content in lean vs. regular ground beef—this clears it up perfectly. Lean might have less fat, but the protein is almost the same.

  3. I used to think ground beef was mostly fat, but learning how protein-dense it is has been a nice surprise. Now it’s a staple in my diet.
