9 Florida Schools Received Meat, Poultry in Massive Listeria Recall – Here’s the List

The recall of meat and poultry products from BrucePac, linked to potential listeria contamination, has expanded to nearly 12 million pounds.

The initial recall, which began with over 9 million pounds of products, now includes an additional 1.7 million pounds, affecting hundreds of schools across the U.S.

While most of these schools are located in Philadelphia and New Jersey, nine schools in Florida were also affected.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service emphasized that the products sent to these schools were not part of the National School Lunch or Breakfast Programs.

Here’s the list of Florida schools that received the recalled meat and poultry products:

  • Astatula Christian School – 13239 Florida Ave., Astatula
  • Bischop McLaughlin Catholic High School – 13651 Hays Rd., Spring Hill
  • Brighter Days-Young Achievers – 3449 13th Ave. N., St. Petersburg
  • Children of the Future – 233 SW 16th St., Belle Glade
  • Children’s Day Academy Preschool – 2995 Avenue G NW, Unincorporated Polk County
  • Just For Kids – 1149 Lake Dr., Cocoa
  • Just For Kids Palm Bay – 1430 Glenham Dr. NE, Palm Bay
  • St. Andrew Catholic School – 877 North Hastings St., Unincorporated Orange County
  • St. James The Fisherman Episcopal Church – 87500 Overseas Hwy., Islamorada

The USDA is urging consumers to check their homes for any of the recalled products.

A full list of the affected items, including prepared salads, burritos, and other ready-to-eat foods sold at major retailers like Costco, Walmart, Target, and Trader Joe’s, can be found on their website.

BrucePac issued the recall after routine FSIS testing detected the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness, especially in children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

Although no illnesses have been reported yet, the USDA advises caution. Products linked to this recall bear establishment numbers “51205 or P-51205” under the USDA mark of inspection.

Consumers are encouraged to carefully review the product labels and contact their local retailers if they have purchased any of the affected items. Schools across the country have also been notified to ensure the safety of students.
