BrucePac Recalls 10 Million Pounds of Meat Over Listeria Concerns
BrucePac, an Oklahoma-based meat producer, has issued a nationwide recall of nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to potential Listeria contamination.
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall after routine inspections revealed traces of Listeria monocytogenes in BrucePac’s products.
Listeriosis, the infection caused by Listeria, can be serious or even fatal, particularly for older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
The products involved in the recall have “best by” dates ranging from June 19, 2025, to October 8, 2025, and can be identified by the establishment numbers “51205 or P-51205” found on the packaging.
The FSIS has expressed concerns that these contaminated products may still be on store shelves or in consumers’ homes. It is urging those who have purchased or plan to serve the affected products to dispose of them immediately or return them to the place of purchase.

The Risk of Listeria
While no cases of illness related to this recall have been reported yet, Listeria is responsible for approximately 1,600 infections each year in the U.S., making it the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness.
Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headaches, and digestive issues. Pregnant women are at particular risk, as the infection can lead to miscarriages or stillbirths.
The FSIS advises individuals who may have consumed the contaminated products to monitor their health and seek medical advice if symptoms of Listeriosis occur within two months of exposure.
