For almost a century, Chop Box has been supplying high-end restaurants in the Northeast with high-quality meat and fish. Many consumers say they ensure a high degree of professionalism, excellent service, and meat quality.

I decided to give Chop Box a three-month trial to see if their professionalism, quality, and sourcing can withstand our evaluation.

Here's what I've discovered so far.

What Is Chop Box?

Chop Box is a high-quality meat and seafood delivery service based in North NJ that promises products sourced directly from American family farms and fishers responsibly and sustainably.

Chop Box Highlights

Chop Box always purchases from farms that practice sustainable and compassionate farming methods. Here are their main highlights.

1. Meat Selection

Chop Box has a wide variety of high-quality beef, grass-fed beef, heritage breed duroc pork, chicken and turkey, and fresh seafood.

As you can see on their website, they have a variety of meat cuts and alternatives. Every item is examined in the Chop Box Test Kitchen to assure incredible quality.

2. Sourcing

Chop Box offers all-natural beef sourced from Arizona, from a farm with strict sustainable practices and requirements.

No hormones are added to their cuts and they are high in Zink, vitamin B, and Iron. Their cattle are raised on a 100% vegetarian diet.

Chicken and turkey are sourced from farms in Southeastern Pennsylvania. They are sustainably, humanely raised, and 100% antibiotic-free.

Heritage breed duroc pork is sourced from family farms in Minnesota resulting in rich flavor and remarkable tenderness.

Their focus is also on wild-caught and sustainably raised fish and seafood. Most of them are purchased directly from fishermen [1].

3. Subscription Boxes

Subscription Boxes Chop Box offers are:

  • The Chop Box
  • Gift Chop Box
  • BBQ Chop Box
  • Chop Box Digital Gift Card

You can order their products anytime you want, you don’t need to subscribe to their services.

I ordered the classic Chop Box and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of meat that arrived at our door for the price. It's without a doubt one of the best Chop Box offers.

Inside a recyclable insulated box, frozen meats were pre-packaged into practical amounts.

4. Shipping

Shipping to the Northeast is $9.99 and free on orders over $99.

Shipping outside of the Northeast costs from $19.99 to $49.99, depending on the order quantity.

Chop Box Shortfalls

The only shortfalls I noticed with Chop Box are that:

  • They don’t offer fine cuts like Wagyu beef and game meat.
  • Deliveries outside the Northeast can end up more pricey due to higher shipping rates.

Where to Buy and Price?

You can buy Chop Box on their official website. The prices for their boxer are ranging from $60 to $129.99, depending on the type you choose.

“You can feel confident that our experts hand-pick the best piece of meat or fish looking for the best piece with the weight closest to what was purchased.”

Comparison to Other Meat Delivery Services

Here’s how Chop Box compares to other meat delivery services.

Subscription Boxes

Chop Box offers four subscription boxes, just like Crowd Cow. On the other hand, ButcherBox offers five, and Snake River Farms has 12.

Meat Offerings

ButcherBox and Chop Box have a similar meat selection: sustainably-raised pork, beef, chicken, and seafood.

Snake River Farms offers a wider meat selection, including beef, pork, lamb, seafood, chicken, and bison. Lastly, Crowd Cow has the biggest selection, including game meats, duck, turkey, and lamb.

Shipping

Chop Box offers shipping to the Northeast for $9.99 and it’s free on orders over $99. However, deliveries outside the Northeast can end up being more pricey.

Crowd Cow and Snake River Farms charge their shipping starting at $9.99 but only Butcher Box offers free shipping on all orders nationwide.

FAQs

What Is the Refund Policy of Chop Box?

The refund policy of Chop Box depends on the circumstances, but in case of issues contacting them will be enough to get a refund on all or a portion of your order.

Is Chop Box Worth It?

Chop Box is worth the money if you're seeking fresh, high-quality American meat and fish.

Even if the cost is slightly higher than at the grocery store, the peace of mind that comes with knowing what you're putting into your body is well worth the modest extra cost.

You'll also appreciate the meat's quality, flavor, and softness.

But I prefer ButcherBox due to free shipping, box size, and a variety of cuts. ButcherBox offers both pre-selected and personalized boxes, making it ideal for finicky and adventurous eaters.

Their rates are fair, which means they don't compromise on quality, and their free shipping adds a pleasant touch to a great membership.
