Clemens Food Group Relocates Kunzler Production and Reduces Lancaster Workforce
Clemens Food Group (CFG) recently announced changes to its Kunzler & Company operations following its acquisition of the Lancaster-based company in May.
To streamline production, CFG is moving the Kunzler Smoked Meats and Branded Franks production lines from Lancaster to its advanced facility in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. As part of this transition, nine employees at the Lancaster location have had their contracts terminated.
In a statement to WGAL News 8, a Clemens Food Group communications manager explained, “Clemens Food Group (CFG) has made the business decision to move the Kunzler Smoked Meats and Branded Franks production areas out of the Lancaster facility in an effort to streamline operations.”
The statement further detailed that Lancaster Smoked Meats production has already been transferred to their Hatfield facility.
The Hatfield location is known for its state-of-the-art capabilities, allowing Clemens Food Group to increase efficiency and maintain its quality standards across product lines.
This transition is expected to enhance CFG’s production capacities, aligning with its larger operational strategies while expanding its resources to serve a broader market.
Kunzler & Company, a longstanding name in the Lancaster area, has deep community ties, and the decision to reduce operations in Lancaster reflects a significant shift in its local presence.
The realignment follows Clemens Food Group’s vision of utilizing advanced facilities for improved production flow and efficiency.
This move highlights the evolving dynamics within the meat processing industry, where companies are increasingly looking to consolidate operations in high-efficiency facilities.
