Green’s Sausage House: A Central Texas Holiday Tradition
For many Central Texas families, Thanksgiving would be incomplete without a visit to Green’s Sausage House in Zabcikville.
This small-town gem, serving the community since 1946, doubles as a meat market, bakery, and café, drawing customers from across the state and beyond.
A Legacy of Flavor
Green’s Sausage House has become synonymous with holiday cheer, especially during Thanksgiving. Co-owner Marvin Green proudly shares, “It’s amazing to see the people who come through the door and where they’re from.”
The store attracts customers from a 200-mile radius, with some traveling even farther to indulge in their famous smoked turkeys, pies, and kolaches.
A Holiday Rush Like No Other
Thanksgiving marks the busiest season for Green’s. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the shop produces over 1,000 smoked turkeys and hams to meet the demand.
Long-time patrons like Debbie Williams have made Green’s part of their family traditions for decades. Williams recalls, “We have to stop here to get the kolaches for Thanksgiving lunch and sometimes the smoked turkey for dinner.”
For many, Green’s is more than just a store; it’s a place where memories are made. As customer Brannon Sledge puts it, “Having a place where you can build memories and say, ‘Yeah, every year we went here to get this turkey,’ is special.”
The Green’s Difference
What sets Green’s apart is its commitment to quality and community. “It’s family-owned, and you can’t get any fresher than this,” says Williams. For the Green family, being part of their customers’ holiday meals is a privilege.
Marvin Green adds, “It’s a joy to think that we’re part of putting their meal together and bringing a little joy to their family.”
Whether it’s the flavorful smoked meats or the welcoming atmosphere, Green’s Sausage House continues to be a cherished tradition for Central Texas families during the holiday season.
