Jones Meat and Locker Sells After 81 Years, Nuss Partners Take the Reins
After 81 years of family ownership, Jones Meat and Locker in Jacksonville has been sold to Nuss Partners, marking the end of an era for Terry and Marcy Jones.
The new owners, Bob Stanton and Derrick Clevenger, plan to keep the Jones name and preserve the high standards of quality and service that the community has come to know and trust.
Terry Jones, who had been considering retirement for a few years, felt that Stanton and Clevenger were the right fit to carry on the business.
“These guys have the vision to keep things the same while expanding our reach,” Jones said. While stepping back, Jones will remain involved part-time, ensuring continuity.
Stanton, a former insurance executive and passionate pitmaster, expressed his admiration for the legacy the Jones family built, emphasizing that their focus would be on maintaining the business’s integrity.
“We’re not here to change everything. The jerky and bacon are already award-winning, and we’re not touching that,” Stanton stated.
Expansion is in the cards for the future, but Stanton assured customers that the first priority is learning the ropes and ensuring the Jacksonville operation runs smoothly before considering additional locations.
The Jones family will continue to play a role in the business, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing quality for customers.
