Lil’ Mike’s Bar-B-Que Expands With Sweet Swirls Ice Cream Shop
For nine years, Lil’ Mike’s Bar-B-Que in Rigby has been delighting customers with its fall-off-the-bone ribs, tender brisket, and flavorful smoked turkey.
Now, the beloved barbecue spot has added a sweet twist by opening Sweet Swirls, a new in-house ice cream shop.
From Barbecue to Ice Cream Dreams
The inspiration for Sweet Swirls came from a family idea. “My 10-year-old daughter Harper wanted to make some money, and she said, ‘Let’s open an ice cream shop,’” said owner Jennifer Scarbrough.
Her mother shared the same dream, and together, they transformed a storage room into a cozy dessert haven.
The shop serves ice cream cones, cups, and indulgent milkshakes. One standout is the Strawberry Cheesecake Shake, topped with strawberry drizzle—perfectly sweet and incredibly filling. The ice cream is the perfect complement to Lil’ Mike’s hearty barbecue offerings.
Barbecue Favorites That Keep Customers Coming Back
At Lil’ Mike’s, the two-meat plate is a top choice, allowing diners to pick from brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey, or ribs, paired with made-from-scratch sides like mac and cheese, beans, or cornbread. Another fan favorite is the loaded baked potato, generously topped with brisket or pulled pork.
For those craving something more adventurous, the Big Mike Sandwich combines brisket, sausage, and slaw on a bun, promising a hunger-busting meal.
As Scarbrough puts it, “We’re awesome and we don’t skimp on anything. You definitely will go home full.”
Get There Early!
With food this popular, it’s no surprise that Lil’ Mike’s often sells out. The slow-cooking process—ribs alone take up to four hours—means the meats are prepared fresh daily. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Whether it’s savory barbecue or a sweet ice cream treat, Lil’ Mike’s Bar-B-Que and Sweet Swirls have something for everyone. Stop by to experience why this Rigby gem continues to be a local favorite!
