New Leadership Takes the Helm at Meat Institute for 2025
The North American Meat Institute has announced a new slate of officers and board members following their recent Protein PACT Summit.
The focus was on pushing sustainability goals forward, tackling workforce safety, animal welfare, and food security.
James Snee, President and CEO of Hormel Foods, will take the reins as the Institute’s Chairman in January 2025, bringing years of experience to the role.
Snee, a longstanding Executive Board member since 2017, is no stranger to leadership. His tenure at Hormel, a company that’s been around for over 130 years, has been marked by his steady hand guiding the company’s evolution into a global food powerhouse.
His election signals a continued emphasis on sustainable practices in the meat industry. Snee has expressed his commitment to supporting the Meat Institute’s mission to “sustainably feed families worldwide,” aiming to build trust in the food supply chain while navigating current challenges.
Alongside Snee, other notable officers have been appointed, including Peter Bozzo of Michael’s Finer Meats as Vice-Chairman, and Randy Huffman of Maple Leaf Foods as Treasurer.
Jon Amidei, COO of Swaggarty’s Farm, joins as Secretary, rounding out the team set to steer the industry through 2025. Amidei’s 40-year career, with experience in both public and private companies, will lend a wealth of knowledge to the Institute’s efforts.
Julie Anna Potts, President and CEO of the Meat Institute, welcomed the new leadership, noting their dedication to addressing key issues like food safety and workforce conditions.
This refreshed leadership team signals an exciting phase for the meat industry, one where sustainability and innovation will play leading roles.
As the meat industry continues to evolve, the influence of these newly appointed leaders will be closely watched. It’s clear they’re ready to take the industry’s reins with a focus on the future.
