Philips Meat Processing Awarded $500K Grant for Facility Upgrades

ZANESVILLE, OH – In a big win for local businesses, Philips Meat Processing has secured a $500,000 grant from the Ohio Meat Processing Grant Program.

This family-owned operation, run by Dale Philips, plans to use the funds to overhaul its facilities, a move that will enhance productivity and streamline operations.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the support from the state,” said Philips, expressing his gratitude for the grant. The upgrades will target key areas like holding pens, automation on the kill floor, and improved packaging processes.

These changes promise not only faster production but a more efficient work environment for the staff.

By automating more of their operations, Philips expects to boost volume, attracting new clients and opening the door to greater business opportunities. “We can handle more, and it’ll make things easier for our team,” he added.

Philips Meat Processing isn’t the only local business benefiting from the grant. Shirer Brothers Meats in Adamsville and Olde Village Meats in Frazeysburg are also receiving state support.

This influx of investment into the local meat processing industry shows a commitment to modernizing operations, creating jobs, and keeping businesses thriving in Muskingum County.
