US Meat Export Federation Honors Industry Leaders with Prestigious Awards

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has announced its 2024 honorees for two of the organization’s highest awards, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the red meat industry.

The awards will be presented on November 7, 2024, at the USMEF Strategic Planning Conference in Tucson, Arizona.

Mark Jagels, a fourth-generation farmer from Davenport, Nebraska, will receive the USMEF Distinguished Service Award.

Jagels, who became involved with the federation through the Nebraska Corn Board, has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s goals, particularly during his tenure as USMEF chair from 2014 to 2015.

Nick Giordano, the former chief lobbyist for the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), will be honored with the Michael J. Mansfield Award.

Giordano played a crucial role in negotiating major trade initiatives for U.S. agriculture, particularly focusing on expanding market access for American pork products. His work has been pivotal in maintaining the U.S.’s strong international presence in the pork industry.

These two leaders are celebrated for their decades of dedication to expanding U.S. meat exports and enhancing international trade relations.
