I have always been very careful about where my food comes from, especially when it comes to meat.

Being an avid fan of meat delivery services, I was intrigued when I came across recommendations for Pre beef.

I have tried and reviewed almost all the meat subscription and delivery services out there.

Today, I will talk about my experience trying out Pre Beef and how it compares to other meat deliveries I used the most.

What is Pre?

Pre is a meat brand that delivers their products straight to the customers' doorstep. Their meat is grass-fed, GMO-free and gluten-free.

Pre began as a company that wanted to provide better quality beef to their customers. They only get their meat from Australia and New Zealand because the grass is very nutrient-rich.

The farmers there have been doing this for a long time, taking good care of their animals.

Pre Highlights and Benefits

Pre has a lot to offer. Here are their main highlights.

1. Subscription Boxes

Before you can order from Pre, you need to subscribe to their services and order one of the following offers:

  • Steaks: Pre makes a variety of steaks, including Filet Mignon, New York Strip, and Ribeye.
  • Seasonal Beef: This is a category that features different cuts of Pre beef that are only available during certain times of the year.
  • Burgers: Pre has both frozen and fresh burgers. They also have slider patties that can be cooked in the oven or on the grill.
  • Beef Boxes: You can choose from a variety of different boxes that include a mix of different cuts of Pre beef.
  • Ground Beef: Pre's ground beef is lean and has 80% less fat than traditional ground beef.

I was most interested in trying the steak. I was a little bit hesitant about the burgers because I am not a big fan of burgers in general. But the steak sounded good to me.

I ordered the Filet Mignon, which I received in 3 days. The packaging was vacuum sealed as they claimed, however when I did try to cook it, the steak wasn't very tender and the portion was small compared to its pricing.

2. Meat Sourcing

All of Pre beef is grass-fed and grass-finished from the pastures of Uruguay, parts of the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.

The company states that the cattle are raised without any antibiotics or hormones [1].

3. Shipping and Delivery

Pre's shipping and delivery was very fast. I received my order in 3 days.

You can choose to have Pre beef shipped once a month, every two weeks, or once a week. This is great for people who want to have the option to stock up or who want to be able to try new things more frequently.

Pros
  • Grass-fed and grass-finished beef
  • High-Quality Sourcing Methods
  • Recyclable packaging
  • Flexible shipping frequency
Cons
  • Tough texture
  • Limited meat selection

Pre Beef Shortfalls

There were two main areas that I felt Pre Beef was lacking:

1. Tough Texture When Cooked

I found that the texture of the beef was a little tough. I'm not sure if this is because it is grass-fed beef or if it is because of the way it was cooked.

2. Small Portion

I also felt that the portion size was a little small. I understand that the price is higher because the beef is grass-fed. But I still think the portion could have been a little bigger.

Comparison to Other Meat Delivery Services

- John From from New Jersey

"Enjoyed this steak but was pretty shocked just how small it was. I wish I took a photo of it in its packaging as the picture (not 8oz) used for this is much bigger than what you get (8oz). Maybe even half the size."
