President Donald Trump said Sunday the U.S. might buy beef from Argentina to ease soaring prices at home.
“We would buy some beef from Argentina,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, en route from Florida to Washington. “If we do that, that will bring our beef prices down.”
The move comes as part of Trump’s broader plan to tackle inflation, a growing concern for American shoppers. U.S. beef costs have stayed high, hit by factors like drought and a pest that’s cut imports from Mexico.
Meanwhile, Trump is backing Argentina financially with a $20 billion credit swap and extra funds from public and private sources. The support comes ahead of midterm elections for President Javier Milei, a key Trump ally.
