The Midwestern Meat & Drink Brings Midwest Classics to St. Charles’ Main Street

The Midwestern Meat & Drink, renowned as a Sauce Best New Restaurant in 2019, is expanding to a second location in St. Charles County.

This new establishment, aptly named The Midwestern Main Street, will be nestled at 208 N. Main St. in the bustling bar scene of historic downtown St. Charles, surrounded by popular spots like Quintessential Dining and Nightlife and Main Street Honky Tonk.

Owners Nick Del Gaiso, Jared Ater, and Stephen Savage aim for a late November opening, contingent on securing a liquor license and wrapping up interior renovations.

“We’ve always talked about moving west with our operations,” Del Gaiso shared, “and there’s the built-in foot traffic on Main Street.”

The decision to expand here was inspired by the unique charm of Main Street. “To me, there’s nothing more Midwestern than a Main Street,” Del Gaiso added.

Midwest Classics with a Twist

The menu at The Midwestern Main Street will diverge from its downtown counterpart due to the absence of a smoker and limited kitchen space.

Instead of smoked meats, the menu will emphasize “Midwest regional classics” like brats, pork tenderloin sandwiches, and walleye, offering these as special features. There’s also excitement brewing around a potential weekend brunch menu.

Though the food will see changes, the bar offerings will stay true to the original’s vibe, focusing on classic cocktails with a twist. A four-tap system will serve rotating local brews, alongside a wide selection of bourbons.

A Cozy Spot with a View

The new venue will be smaller, about 1,200 square feet, with a 400-square-foot patio overlooking the Missouri River.

The cozy interior, described as warm yet brighter than the downtown location, will feature exposed brick and neon lighting for a lively, inviting atmosphere. The owners expect seating for around 95 patrons inside.

With hours catering to late-night diners, The Midwestern Main Street aims to be a lively addition to St. Charles. Opening hours are set for Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight.
