Louisville’s Game Restaurant Brings Exotic Meats to the Table with Antelope Burgers and More

Game, a unique restaurant located on Lexington Road in Louisville, has redefined the local dining scene since it opened in 2013 by offering an exotic selection of meats like kangaroo, rabbit, and yak.

Owner Tim Lewis envisioned the place as “the neighborhood spot that offers something different,” and Game has lived up to that promise by catering to adventurous diners seeking options beyond the usual burger.

In December 2023, Game expanded with a second location called Game on the River in Jeffersonville, Indiana, reflecting the growing appetite for its wild and distinctive offerings.

The original restaurant’s design amplifies its rustic, game-inspired theme with a wooden cabin exterior, a large moose statue greeting patrons, and decor that features nods to wildlife, beer, and Louisville’s distilleries.

Inside, Game offers an extensive drink menu of over 50 beers and maintains a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying its inventive dishes.

For starters, the menu showcases dishes like deconstructed Scotch eggs, which feature lightly fried, soft-boiled eggs paired with smoked pork belly strips and a unique cranberry-jalapeno jam and smoked truffle mayonnaise.

As Lewis noted, “You’ll find Scotch eggs around town. They’re traditional style and good, but we like to think ours is unique.”

Another popular choice is the roasted bone marrow, served in femur bones from Angus cattle and topped with Parmesan, poblano, and a rosemary crust—a dish Lewis described as their take on “something like a spinach artichoke dip.”

Game’s burger lineup is a highlight for many, especially the antelope burger, which Lewis introduced as a healthier meat option, praised for its tender texture and subtle sweetness.

For diners wanting to explore further, the “meatball safari” menu features an array of meats from venison to bison in the form of $5-6 meatballs. Game also offers salads, sides like roasted Thai-glazed Brussels sprouts, and indulgent desserts like a s’mores tower.

Overall, Game’s dedication to creativity and quality has earned it a reputation in Louisville for delivering an exceptional dining experience with a twist, making it a destination for both locals and visitors in search of extraordinary flavors.
