Milano Smokehouse Meats Brings Deer Processing Back for Hunters
Hunters in Ishpeming, Michigan, have a new go-to spot for deer processing, thanks to Milano Smokehouse Meats.
Co-owner Tim Milano launched the service to address the decline in local deer processing options, ensuring hunters can store venison for their families.
A Solution for Local Hunters
Milano explained the need for this initiative, stating, “If we weren’t here, some people wouldn’t be able to get their meat for the freezer.”
The shop has already taken on 65 to 70 deer, but the process requires patience. Smoking just one batch of venison takes about four hours, meaning the team has hundreds of hours of work ahead.
To comply with licensing restrictions, the shop offers two options: hunters can bring deer pre-skinned and quartered, or Milano can skin them at his private butcher shop.
Custom Cuts and Flavors
What sets Milano Smokehouse Meats apart is the ability to customize cuts with creative flavors. From Philly cheesesteak brats to summer sausage and snack sticks, hunters can transform their venison into gourmet products.
Milano emphasized this unique offering, saying, “They can have all those things made with their venison as well here.”
The shop recently invested in a walk-in cooler and freezer, ensuring ample storage for deer. With over 15 years of experience, Milano’s expertise and dedication provide peace of mind for local hunters. “We’ve got plenty of cooler space to store and season the meat,” he added.
Carrying on Tradition
Milano’s service fills the gap left by Glenn’s Smokehouse, much to the community’s relief. He noted, “The community is glad we’re continuing this service.”
For hunters eager to preserve their venison and enjoy tailored flavors, Milano Smokehouse Meats stands ready to help.
