The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a recall after uninspected meat products, which were falsely labeled with an inspection mark, were distributed to restaurants and stores across the country.
The items, which include chorizo, pork chops, and ribs, were flagged during routine surveillance by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recalled products were marked with the fake establishment number “Est. 1785” and were found to have never been inspected. These products were produced on various dates prior to August 20, 2025.
What’s Being Recalled:
- 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of homestyle chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Suelto Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS.”
- 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of smoked pork chops labeled “OLANCHO Chuleta Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS.”
- 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of smoked chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Ahumado Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS.”
- 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of cased homestyle chorizo, labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Olanchano Criollo SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS.”
- 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of smoked BBQ spicy chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Parrillero SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS.”
- 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of smoked ribs labeled “OLANCHO Costilla Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS.”
Why It Matters:
Although no reports of adverse reactions have surfaced, these products could potentially contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that make them unsafe for consumption.
What’s Unknown:
The recall notice doesn’t specify the exact locations where these items were distributed, only that they were sent “to retail locations and restaurants nationwide.”
What You Can Do:
Consumers are urged to inspect their fridges and freezers for products with the “EST. 1785” mark. If you have any of these items, either dispose of them or return them to the store.
