Western Smokehouse Partners, a prominent producer of Chomps meat sticks, is investing $60 million in a new facility in Mexico, Missouri, bringing about 280 jobs to Audrain County.
Missouri Governor Mike Parson joined company CEO Matt Bormann and Department of Economic Development Director Michelle Hataway at the October 24 groundbreaking event.
Parson praised the expansion, highlighting its positive impact on local communities: “This is what keeps these small communities together.”
The new 300,000-square-foot plant, the company’s largest, will occupy the former Soft Surroundings building and serve as Western Smokehouse Partners’ sixth facility.
CEO Matt Bormann announced plans to begin hiring production employees in summer 2025, with hiring fairs scheduled for early next year.
Founded in 1978, Western Smokehouse Partners prides itself on its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, aiming to become the preferred maker of premium, crafted meat snacks.
This project marks the second major investment in Audrain County this month, following Boone Health’s announcement of a new hospital in Mexico.
