Appleton American Legion Hosts Meat Raffle to Honor Veterans, Build Community
APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – In a show of community spirit and respect for Veterans, the Appleton American Legion Post 38 hosted a vibrant meat raffle and celebration at Club 38 Bar and Grill on November 9, just ahead of Veterans Day.
The event brought together community members for an afternoon of live music, prizes, and camaraderie, all while supporting Post 38’s mission to honor and assist Veterans.
The raffle drew crowds with an array of meat selections donated by the renowned Jacobs Meat Market in Appleton. Patrons eagerly participated, hoping to take home everything from hearty steaks to locally sourced sausages, with each ticket purchase contributing to the post’s fundraising efforts.
The proceeds from the raffle will go directly toward maintaining the programs and services offered by Post 38, which is dedicated to supporting Veterans and their families in the Appleton area.
“Especially since it’s Veteran’s Day, obviously Veteran’s Day is very important to us here at the Legion, but we want to make sure it should be important to everyone as well, to honor all the Veterans that we lost,” explained Post 38 Commander Jan Hoffman.
The Legion also reminded the community that their doors are always open to the public, fostering a sense of inclusivity and mutual support.
The event would not have been possible without the dedicated volunteers who helped organize and run the festivities.
The Appleton American Legion emphasized its gratitude for the unwavering support from volunteers and donors, who ensure that these gatherings continue to make an impact.
Alongside the raffle, attendees enjoyed live performances by local musicians, adding to the festive and welcoming atmosphere of the day.
This successful event not only highlighted the community’s commitment to honoring Veterans but also strengthened the connection between Appleton’s residents and their local Legion post.
Through events like this, the American Legion Post 38 aims to create lasting traditions that support and recognize the sacrifices made by Veterans, ensuring their legacy is cherished and remembered in meaningful ways.
The Legion hopes to make the meat raffle an annual tradition, providing a fun, engaging way for the community to come together in gratitude and support for its Veterans.
For those unable to attend, Post 38 extends an open invitation to visit, connect, and participate in future events that honor and uplift the Veteran community.
