Colorado State University Professor Honored by American Meat Science Association for Community Impact
Bob Delmore, a professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University, has been recognized with the American Meat Science Association (AMSA) 2024 Distinguished Extension-Industry Service Award.
This award celebrates his significant achievements in meat science extension and his dedicated service to the meat industry.
The AMSA Distinguished Extension-Industry Service Award, established in 1965, is presented to professionals who make substantial contributions to the field.
Delmore’s work goes beyond academia, with notable projects like the “Beef Sticks for Backpacks” initiative. This charity, as Delmore explains, “supports kids facing food insecurity in Colorado.”
Each week, CSU students and staff collaborate to produce over 20,000 beef sticks, which are then distributed to all 64 counties across Colorado.
Through this partnership, Delmore has not only contributed to a cause close to his community but has also forged connections among academia, industry, and philanthropy.
His commitment exemplifies CSU’s mission of fostering student involvement in meaningful, hands-on projects that have a real-world impact.
This recognition highlights Delmore’s influence on students and the meat science industry, demonstrating how educational institutions can partner with community initiatives to address pressing social issues.
