Mystery of the ‘Meat Bush’ in Ravenswood Continues

RAVENSWOOD MANOR — For years, residents of Ravenswood Manor have been baffled by an odd and ongoing occurrence: someone is leaving chunks of raw meat in a bush at the corner of West Wilson and North Manor avenues.

This curious activity has earned the spot the nickname “Meat Bush” among locals.

The latest discovery was reported on September 17 when neighbor Kathleen Abbott posted in the Ravenswood Manor Facebook group, writing, “The Meat Bush strikes again,” and shared photos of the meat scattered in the bushes.

Residents, particularly dog owners, expressed concern. One neighbor commented, “Dog owners, beware of that corner. To the meat dropper, knock it off!”

Mina Marien, president of the Ravenswood Manor Improvement Association, explained that this isn’t the first instance of raw meat showing up in the area. “It’s happened over multiple years,” she said. “We don’t know why it’s happening, but it’s concerning, especially for dog owners.”

Theories have been circulating on social media, ranging from potential religious rituals to attempts at attracting wildlife. Some residents are even worried the meat might be poisoned.

One neighbor wondered, “Wonder if it’s possible to get the meat tested? Maybe not poisoned? Maybe someone is trying to attract coyotes?”

Despite the unease, some neighbors have found humor in the situation, with one joking, “Meat Bush sounds like an incredible warehouse party.”

The mystery remains unsolved, and neighbors are keeping a close eye on the now infamous “Meat Bush.”
