What Consumers Should Do

If you have purchased any of these products:

  • Do not consume them under any circumstances.
  • Dispose of them safely or return them to the store for a refund.
  • Contact Yu Shang Food’s plant manager, Ling Yi, at [email protected] or (408) 857-0901 for further details.

Additionally, clean and disinfect any surfaces or appliances that may have come into contact with the products to prevent the spread of Listeria.

Listeria Risks and Symptoms

Listeria is a resilient bacteria that thrives in cool, damp environments, making refrigeration insufficient for safety. It is often linked to foods like cold cuts, smoked fish, and unpasteurized cheeses. While cooking kills the bacteria, cross-contamination post-cooking can reintroduce it.

Symptoms of listeriosis vary:

  • Pregnant individuals: Mild symptoms like fever and fatigue but can lead to severe complications such as miscarriage or stillbirth.
  • Others: Fever, muscle aches, confusion, and even seizures in severe cases.

FSIS Monitoring and Support

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is working to ensure affected products are removed from shelves and has reminded consumers to avoid eating them.

For further inquiries, contact the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or use their online complaint system.
