Bakersfield just got a taste of something special with the grand opening of Carnicería La Picana. This family-owned butcher shop opened its doors on Saturday, bringing high-quality meats, seafood, and homemade salsas to the local community.
Co-owned by Miguel Gutierrez, along with his parents and uncle, the shop embodies their shared dedication to delivering quality with a personal touch. “What I like to sell is good quality meat, with good flavor at a fair price,” said Gutierrez.
A One-Stop Shop for Freshness
Carnicería La Picana offers a variety of meats, including pork, chicken, and beef, much of which is sourced from trusted Canadian suppliers. “We love the Canada cows, the quality of them,” Gutierrez shared, noting the shop’s reliance on a 12-year relationship with the supplier.
But the experience doesn’t stop at the meat counter. Customers can indulge in fresh seafood options like shrimp cocktail, fish ceviche, shrimp ceviche, and crab ceviche, along with the shop’s signature salsas.
A Community-Centered Mission
The turnout for the grand opening exceeded expectations, with many visitors raving about the products. Gutierrez expressed his joy at seeing happy customers. “When I see people coming in, telling me, ‘This looks good, this tastes good,’ it makes me feel good inside,” he said.
The shop is committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring customers leave satisfied and eager to return. “I want them to be happy when they step out that door, get home, and taste everything,” said Gutierrez.
Open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the shop strikes a balance between hard work and family time. “We like to get off early that day and enjoy our day too,” Gutierrez added.
