Fort Worth Siblings Earn EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Standard Meat Co.

Standard Meat Company, a Fort Worth-based industry pioneer, has added another feather to its cap.

Siblings Benjamin Rosenthal and Ashli Rosenthal Blumenfeld, co-presidents of the 89-year-old family-owned company, have been named 2024 EY Entrepreneur of the Year winners in the Family Business category.

Their recognition celebrates not only their leadership but also the legacy of innovation embedded in Standard Meat’s history.

Leading the Charge in Sustainable Meat Processing

“Fourth-generation leaders Ben and Ashli have revitalized the company by blending a commitment to sustainability with a family-first culture,” EY judges remarked.

The Rosenthals have taken strides to modernize Standard Meat, introducing sous vide cooking, a cutting-edge cast-iron searing method, and other advancements.

These efforts have made the company a trailblazer in both sustainability and efficiency, demonstrating that even a heritage brand can adapt to the changing times.

Innovation Meets Family Tradition

Under their leadership, the company expanded its footprint into fast-casual and quick-service restaurant markets while venturing into meal-kit delivery services. “Since assuming their leadership positions six years ago, the siblings have blazed a new way forward,” EY stated.

Their journey hasn’t been without challenges, but the results speak volumes. “In addition to reacquiring family ownership of the company, they invested in four new major product lines and beefed up SMC’s revenue—even during the pandemic,” EY noted.

Last January, Standard Meat announced plans for a fifth protein processing plant in Fort Worth. Housed in a historic 1955 facility, this new plant aims to meet growing demands while maintaining the company’s hallmark quality.

A Vision for Growth and Sustainability

For the Rosenthals, Standard Meat is more than a business—it’s a testament to the value of innovation paired with tradition.

“Expanding the client base by entering the fast-casual and quick-service restaurant spaces further fueled the company’s growth,” EY highlighted.
